Edward BaleEdward Bale has given concerts throughout the UK and in Italy, Japan and Hong Kong. He has recorded for
BBC Television and has also performed in many major London venues including the Queen Elizabeth Hall,
Barbican Hall and as soloist at the Royal Albert Hall. Edward was educated at Eton and the Royal College of Music where he studied the violin with Professor
Rodney Friend. He has attended courses with Boris Belkin at the Academia Musicale Chigiana in Sienna, and
he has been awarded bursaries to studywith Ruggiero Ricci at the Dartington International Summer School.
He has led the Royal College of Music Chamber and Opera Orchestras, the String Ensemble and the Imperial
College Symphony Orchestra. Edward was a prizewinner in the Essex Young Musician/John Lill Awards and
also studied Physics at Imperial College. Edward plays chamber music regularly with a number of ensembles. The Bale Duo was formed with the
pianist Philippa Kerr to play some of the wide repertoire for violin and piano. Edward gained a Masters degree from the Royal College of Music in October 1998, having held a Financial
Award from the College supported by the Constant and Kit Lambert Trust. He is currently the Phoebe Benham
